One more reminder that I’m never getting in an airplane. Nope.

nothing to fear.

flying is safer than driving

I think I’ll hold off on flying on a 737 MAX for a while until the cause of this one is clear. Two fatal crashes within a year of entry into service. Very possible it’s not linked at all, also possible it is and there is some issue with the MAX that can pop up.

Yes, I know statistically they fly around a lot without issues also, but safety first :D.

Still probably the thing where you increase you chance of dying by driving instead.

Not driving, just not flying on a 737 MAX if I have a choice :).

I try to avoid planes as much as possible too. Drive EVERYWHERE!

This is indeed troubling.

I’ve already seen a story on Avweb showing wildly varying vertical speeds after takeoff, too. Although I’m not sure how accurate that data would be.

I also read that he was flying very fast, very low, and left a very large crater. The Max 8 definitely has some COG issues, which is why Boeing installed the automatic trim system that may have been a factor in the Lion Air crash. But the experienced Ethiopian pilot certainly would have known about this, especially following the Lion Air crash. Ethiopian is also one of the safest African carriers. There should be some very nervous people at Boeing right now . It’s entirely possible that the 737 has been stretched beyond the point of safety. Some interesting comments on FlightAware .

Yeah, I would qualify anything at this point until it’s proven, but 440kts at 1000 feet AGL is not at all normal.

Boeing needs to get to the bottom of this ASAP - the flying public isn’t going to be comfortable getting on a MAX right now ( I wouldn't).

Here’s an Ethiopian 737 MAX 8. This is not the one that crashed.
